Personal Information
Currently, VP for Development, Hooker | De Jong Architects & Engineers and
owner, Frank Bednarek Consulting Services, LLC. Worked 29 years for Muskegon
County, 17 years as Administrator/Controller. Previously worked at the
Cleveland Board of Education and the Ohio Legislative Service Commission.
Holds a Master's of Public Administration from Kent State University. As a
Ford Foundation Fellow, did post graduate studies at the Ohio State University.
Has served on the Board of Directors of many community organizations including
the Muskegon Community College, the American Red Cross, Child and Family
Services, the Muskegon Museum of Art, the Muskegon Osteopathic Foundation, the
Westshore Health Network and the Community Health Project. Also, a founding
member of the Air Fair and Summer Celebration boards. Participated in various
capacities with several United Way campaigns. A member of Rotary.
As County Administrator/Controller accomplished many projects for the County
including the development of the Airport Business Parks, the Heritage Landing
Park, the remodel and renovation of the Historic Depot, a new Airport Passenger
Terminal, a new Muskegon Area Transit System Headquarters, the recruitment and
development of the Lakes Mall, the Lakeshore Marketplace and Great Lakes Downs,
the Acquisition of the former regional mental health center as the new campus
for Baker College and the originator of the Muskegon Trolley System.
Has received many awards including Practioner of the Year from the West
Michigan Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration, County
Employee of the Year from the Michigan Association of Counties, honorary
induction in Grand Valley State University's Public Adminstration Honor
Society and the Patricia B. Johnson Leadership Award.
Married to partner Susan with five adult children. Enjoys travel, art and
antiques.
